Detlef Bensmann – Berlin (Germany)

Detlef Bensmann studied saxophone with Prof. Omar Lamparter and double bass with Prof. Heinz Jablonski in Berlin, Germany. After playing double bass in the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin (1979/80), he started his career as a saxophone soloist with a debut concert in the Berlin Philharmonie with the Radio Symphonie Orchestra Berlin (DSO) and a first recording of concertos for saxophone and orchestra (1980). Among Mr. Bensmann’s more than twentyfive commercial recordings of important works are pieces composed for Detlef Bensmann and others composed by Detlef Bensmann. He reguarly performs internationally with world-class orchestras and conductors of renown, such as Dmitrij Kitajenko with the Berner Symphoniker, with Radio Symphonie Orchestra Frankfurt (HR), with Kazushi Ono, Sian Edwards, Eiji Oue, Tetsuro Ban, David Shallon, Michael Dixon, Golo Berg, Neil Thompson, Jorge Lopez Marìn (Cuba), Olaf Koch and others. More than 25 concertos have been composed especially for Detlef Bensmann (mostly recorded) and he has premiered more than 100 compositions for chamber ensembles or solo pieces.

In 1983, Mr. Bensmann founded the Berlin Saxophone Quartet where, until July 2007, he performed as the primarius (principal) of this ensemble. He has continued playing saxophone quartets with the “Bensmann Saxophone Quartet”, which he founded 2006 with students of his master-class. In September 2017 Mr. Bensmann founded together with Yin Pei, Lilly Paddags and Ninoslav Dimov the Nova Berlin Saxophone Quartet.

In 1984, Mr. Bensmann started teaching at the University of the Arts, Berlin. Since 1992, he has also been teaching at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin” and, from summer 2010 to summer 2016, at the HMT Rostock. Since Winter 2016 he is also teaching in Akademie for Arts Berlin.

Since 1987, Mr. Bensmann has also performed at concerts and recorded with the piano soloist Michael Rische. In that time he also started the cooperation with Christian Roderburg (percussion). For both duos compositions were created.

In 2004, Mr. Bensmann founded the BENSMANN-TRIO with Waltraut Wächter(Violin – first Konzertmeister of MDR SO) and the pianist Dmitrij Befeler. (first commercial CD “Poèmes”). This trio is still working with different partners.

Anna Stepanova – Odessa (Ukraine)

is one of the leading saxophonists of Ukraine. Graduated from Russia Gnessin Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Margarita Shaposhnikova. Anna Stepanova is winner of numerous international competitions and founder and president of the international competition Odessa Golden Saxophone.

She is teacher of South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinskiy. She works as a soloist of the A. Salik Municipal Theatre of Wind Music and of the Odessa Philharmonic Society. Anna gives recitals and master classes both in Ukraine and abroad (Russia, Belarus, Moldova, China, Germany, Austria). Reperoire of Anna Stepanova includes music of various styles from baroque music to music of XXI century dedicated to Anna by Italian and Ukrainian composers.

Ninoslav Dimov – Skopje(Macedonia)

Ninosalv Dimov finishes his undergraduate studies (2004) in the class of prof. Stojan Dimov, at the Faculty of Music in Skopje. After the graduation in Skopje, he continues his studies in Berlin, Germany, at the Universität der Kunste, in the class of Detlef Bensmann. In Berlin he finishes his undergraduate studies (2006) and continues with "Konzertexamen" specialization until 2009. During this period, he acquires many national and international competition awards, and he is a regular participant at prestigious master classes and seminars for saxophone in Slovenia, Croatia, France and Germany.

Along his countless solo recitals, Ninoslav appears as a soloist with Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, Bitola Chamber Orchestra, Kosova Philharmonic Orchestra ...

From the beginning of his studies, he is a leader of the "Dimov Saxophone Quartet" with whom had many concerts in the Baltikum.  Since 2007 he is a member and co-founder of the "Bensmann Saxophone Quartet" with whom plays regullary international. From 2017, he is founder artistic director of the international saxophone and clarinet festival “SaxClar” in Skopje, North Macedonia.

At the moment Ninoslav is professor for saxophone at the faculty of music in Skopje, member of jury at various international music competitions, member of Macedonian Radio Television Big Band and regular on-call saxophone player for Philharmonic Orchestra of North Macedonia.

Tianhong Wu – Berlin(Germany)

Tianhong Wu was born in Yangzhou, China. He started at the age of ten years playing saxophone. Previously, he studied at the University of Art Nanjing composition in bachelor. In 2019 he did his master's degree at Detlef Bensmann graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts. He completed his studies by visiting master classes with Philippe Geiss, Arno Bornkamp, ​​Lars Mlekusch, Ryo Noda
and Christian Wirth. He has been playing with the Pentaton Saxophone Quartet since 2012 and won 2014 the 1st prize at the chamber music competition "Holz pur" at UdK Berlin. He founded in 2017
the Bensmann Saxophone Quartet Berlin, with whom he later performed concerts in Berlin and other   German cities, in Zagreb (Croatia) at the World Saxophone Congress 2018, Macedonia and China. He is the second chairman of ArDeSa the Association of German Saxophonists e. V. In the same year he bacame Member of the Adumá Saxophone Quartet. As a soloist, he performed with the Prenzlau Chamber Orchestra the saxophone concerto by Alexander Glasunow. In various orchestras he playes the saxophone parts.

Prof. Dr. Andrzej Rzymkowski – Krakow (Poland)

received his degree in saxophone performance with honors in 1982 from the Academy of Music in Kraków (Poland) under the guidance of  Prof. Lesław Lic. He continued his instrumental studies under the direction of Günter Priesner in Nürnberg (Germany), participated there 1983 at the World Saxophone Congresses and in the International Master Classes conducted by Professors Jean-Marie Londeix, Iwan Roth and Ed Bogaard. Prof. Dr. Rzymskowski is a prominent lecturer at master classes in Poland and abroad as well as a juror at national and international saxophone competitions.

Andrzej Rzymkowski is the founder and President of the Polish Saxophone Association as well as an honorary member of the German Saxophone Association: ArDeSa (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Saxophonisten e.V.). In 1987 he founded a music Laboratory in Lublin (Poland) with the purpose to promote contemporary saxophone music and in 1994 he created the Orsax-Duo, an ensemble specializing in chamber music for saxophone and organ.

He was performing several world premieres of numerous works dedicated to him by Polish and foreign composers including: Zbigniew Bujarski, Magdalena Długosz, Mariusz Dubaj, Adam Heideman, Bertold Hummel, Maciej Jabłoński, Mieczysław Mazurek, Tadeusz Karol Mazurek, Maciej Negrey, Bogusław Schaeffer, Adam Walaciński, Łukasz Woś, Ewa Zuchowicz. He participated in many international music festivals including Jeunesses Musicales of Kielce (Poland), Music in Old Cracow (Poland), Contrasts – Festival of Contemporary Music Lviv (Ukraine), Pegnitzschäfer Nürnberg (Germany), International Music Festival Debrecen (Hungary), Avantgarde Schwaz (Austria), XV International Saxophone Stage, Fermo (Italy).

He is very active as a soloist and chamber musician in Poland and abroad performing with many orchestras including: Philharmonics of Kraków, Kielce, Lublin, Wałbrzych; National Philharmonic Poland, Capella Cracoviensis and Göttinger Symphonie Orchester (Germany).

Currently he employed as professor of saxophone in the woodwinds, and accordion department at the academy of music in Kraków. He has been the head of the brass deparment at the same place since 2012/13.

 Nadezda Tseluykina  —Saratov(Russia)

studied composition at the state konservatory of Saratov and piano at the Gnessin Music Akademie in Moscow and in Feldkirch (Austria). She finished her studies in Berlin Akademie for Music "Hanns Eisler" with "Konzertexamen". She is successful as a soloist, chamber musician, leader of theater projects, composer and arrangeur for those. She cooperates close with composers who write pieces for her.
